BRAND NEW STATE-OF-THE-ART MEDICAL IMAGING CLINIC IN DEE WHY DELIGHTS NORTHERN BEACHES PHYSICIANS AND PATIENTS

Northern Beaches’ patients and doctors will benefit from faster, more accurate diagnoses of injuries, heart disease, stroke, cancer and other health issues with the opening of a large new state-of-the-art medical imaging clinic in 800 Pittwater Road Dee Why, easily accessible via dedicated clinic car parking and bus stops on either side of the road.

Having outgrown its clinic in 812 Pittwater Road and with its lease up, Dee Why X-Ray, CT & MRI seized the opportunity to relocate to a purpose-built modern facility behind Office Works and Fitness First on the corner of Harbord Road. The move to the new clinic on the 16th of June 2010 coincided with a new name for the practice; Pittwater Radiology Dee Why, which is part of the I-MED Network, Australia’s largest diagnostic imaging group.

The multi-million dollar clinic boasts the latest diagnostic imaging technology – including the most advanced low radiation computed tomography (CT) scanner on the peninsula and a brand new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine – all under one roof.

I-MED Network CEO, Mark Masterson, said the group was excited to be able to make such advanced technology available to peninsula residents in such well-appointed, convenient surrounds.

“Our customers have told us that what is most important to them is easy access – with plenty of car parking – to advanced medical imaging services provided by highly qualified radiologists, technicians and support staff,” Mr Masterson said.

“That is why we have created a brand new clinic big enough to house all our existing services, from x-ray, CT and MRI to ultrasound, mammography, bone density and BreastScreen, and ramped up our technology offering with a new gold-standard 128-slice low radiation CT scanner and the latest 1.5T MRI,” he said.

“In addition, we explicitly secured 34 car parks dedicated to the clinic, 22 of which have level access to the front door.”

The new CT scanner will provide significantly clearer scans, faster examinations and increased comfort for patients, including less claustrophobia.  It is cutting edge technology for diagnosing problems with heart circulation but also enables more effective scanning in other body areas and conditions.

Pittwater Radiology Dee Why Clinic Director, Dr Peter Wilson, said CT scanning is a superior, non-invasive imaging technique that provides a clear insight into the tissues, arteries and veins of the body, allowing blockages, changes in blood supply and other abnormalities to be identified, thereby allowing better planning for treatment and recovery.

“This new CT scanner is the ultimate in CT scanning technology, delivering some of the fastest, most detailed 3-dimensional images of the body possible,” Dr Wilson said.

“This technology is particularly exciting for studying the beating heart.  Because the heart is in motion, a faster scanner is able to produce higher quality, detailed pictures in order to identify problems such as blocked or narrowed arteries and calcium build-up, reducing the need for patients to have more invasive coronary angiography,” he said.

Dr Wilson said the new equipment can also be used for cancer diagnosis, monitoring the progression of cancer treatment and diagnosis of early stroke.

Pittwater Radiology – Dee Why’s official launch was on the 11th of August where local GPs, specialists, allied health professionals and their staff were greeted by Drs Peter Wilson, Beng Tan, Phil Hung, Ian Sewell and Professor Suzzanne Anderson and clinic staff.

“The night was a great success.  Many of the physicians who attended were impressed with the investment we have made and agreed that our clinic is an asset to the northern beaches community”, Dr Wilson said.

You can be confident that when you visit a Pittwater Radiology clinic for a diagnostic imaging procedure you will receive the very best in patient care and customer service. We are about

‘Putting the latest technology to work.’

With the constant advances in diagnostic imaging technology, we’re always finding ways to deliver better, faster, more accurate information to doctors and patients. Technology can really help us to make huge steps forward.

‘Really listening to patients and understanding’

Radiographer: ‘No matter how much training you undergo to become a Radiographer, it’s the way we care for our patients that is most important.’

Sonographer: ‘It takes extensive training to become a Radiographer then further training to qualify as a Sonographer. But it’s worth every second just for that moment when you see the smile on the face of a mum-to-be.’

Receptionist: ‘We’re the point of contact for every patient. By listening and caring we can make things a little easier during an anxious time.’

‘Finding the real problem’

It takes over 12 years medical training including additional training in diagnostic radiology. Most of our radiologists have also completed specialist training in areas of interest and are recognised locally, nationally and internationally as experts in their chosen field.

‘Helping your doctor find the answer’

A radiologist is a medical doctor who is specially trained to interpret diagnostic imaging tests and perform interventional procedures. Radiologists have the specialist expertise to understand and explain your medical problem or symptom through the images that are taken of your body.

Our Radiologist’s specialist expertise means they will provide an accurate answer to your referring doctor.
